As I go through the day, my mind is clogged with thoughts and ideas.  There is a pull to write it all down. But for some reason, the moment I sit down at the computer and try to write; the clever repartee that has been swirling around in my head turns into stilted gibberish. My first blog, MindingMarian, talks about “minding” my Mother.  Caring for her as well as heeding her. I was on a roll with that one. I enjoyed the process of writing until it seemed to take an unpredicted turn. The stories are really funny-especially if you know her. A few, it seemed to me to be a tad disrespectful. If she were still alive, that would be one thing.  There is such a fine line between laughing with someone and laughing at someone. And her not able to defend herself, or give me her blessing, I began to feel just a bit smarmy. I certainly didn’t want to be that kid. Maybe it was just too soon to write about our relationship. So, I stepped away.

A few weeks ago, I went with my son, Bud in his semi. We drove 6,065 miles in 11 days–Beginning in Columbus, Oh to Portland OR to Allentown PA and home. My intent was to just go, relax and enjoy myself.  A friend asked if I thought about blogging about it.  I did not and I refused to take my adventure and turn it into a job.  But, Mom always taught me that you can’t just do something for fun, if you are going to do something, write about it and then sell it. During our trip, I posted photos of state welcome signs on my FB page.  I got such a rush from the response. That said, this is my second attempt at blogging and today decided to put on my big-girl pants, and give it my best shot.  Enjoy!
